Q: The yellow hose has a valve on one end (looks like schreider). what is it for and which end do i connect to the manifold? thanks.

Schrader valve side connects to the refrigerant. Can tap or large 134a canister. Non schrader valve side connects to the center (supply) valve on the manifold.

Q: The hoses have female ends, the couplers are female. Does the set come with the required adapters to attach the couplers?

The valve/gauge body has male fittings, the female fittings on the hoses screw onto those. The couplers have male threads as well, the hoses screw onto them. The couplers are female and they couple onto your male automotive AC fittings.

Q: My low pressure gauge reads 10 psi when fully open without any pressure. descriptions claims the gauges can be re-calibrated. how do i do this?
