Worth it for me.
I had my ethernet cable running down the stairs to the router. I (the wife) got fed up of the mess so I did some research on the best wireless adapter and this kept coming up in the top 10. There are some really expensive ones and this was the most reasonable for performance. I was a little nervous though due to the £80 price tag but went for it. On arrival, (took 2 days), I followed the installation instructions, instead of my usual 'I know what I'm doing'. I have no CD drive so went to the net gear support website to download the driver software. I usually just get the drivers for this kind of install, instead of the full bundle software utility. This time I played safe, due to some of the reviews of difficulties with it on windows 10, and installed the full package. (It's not really needed as it's just basically a network selection utility and performance monitor but it's fairly light). I plugged in the adapter into the magnetic base and into the USB 3 port on my PC and BOOM! there it was. Connected to my WiFi and BOOM! Speeds just as fast as the ethernet. I'm only on a 200mbps connection from my provider, (so can't vouch for the advertised max speed of it) and this adapter is giving me a WiFi connection of 217mbps. My PC is upstairs and in the room above the router, so it's not really testing it I guess. Been running for 2 weeks with no issues at all, no drops in speed, no disconections. It is a big adapter but not as big as some. I guess if you want to pick up strong signals you need a big reciever. The magnetic base is great too, my desk has metal vertical plates on the side and it sticks there no problem. All out of sight. Hasn't moved and the adapter hasn't fallen out of the base, it's got a good solid USB connector on it. Will update if I notice any issues but I don't think I will.

Excellent. Huge speed increase.
Excellent. Well worth the money. I was having problems with the built in WiFi in the pc motherboard and getting a very slow connection and constant drops. This was very easy to set up and install. Just click on a link and download the latest drivers or install them from the usb drive. The install process even disabled the current WiFi hardware for you without having to go into device manager and do it yourself. (I check and it disabled the motherboard WiFi perfectly). I ran a speed test and under the old motherboard WiFi I was getting about 10mbs. I installed this and ran a speed test and my speed has gone up dramatically to 611mbps (and that’s in a different room from the router). I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is having problems with built in WiFi on their motherboard.

Just like being connected via ethernet
I bought this as my connection speed and ping were struggling a little to reach my upstairs office with my older 2.4/5ghz adapters. My first speed test with this adapter produced results identical to that when plugged in via ethernet - 360mpbs download and 37mbps upload. This is the maximum available with my ISP. This is achievable by connecting to the less congested second 5ghz band that this adapter enables. The adapter is much, much bulkier than it's predecessors and as a result it comes with a magnetic cradle. This does take up a tiny bit of desk space but is preferable over sticking out of the machine. If not using a cradle, this adapter would block other USB ports because it's so big. I purchased an Amazon Warehouse version of this (i.e. customer returns) so the adapter looks to have been in use for quite a while as the hinges of the adapter were coated in a thick layer of dust which I had to clean off. The original box was also not included with the Amazon Warehouse version. Important to note that the device is not plug-any-play. To enable the device, I had to go to Netgear's website and download the driver software. This enabled the device but also required installation of Netgear's very dated looking software. The driver software was relatively easy to download and install compared to other products. This is an expensive adapter but initial tests show that it's worth that extra expense.

Outstanding For Gaming and all streaming and browsing
Amazing best gaming and hd streaming adapter at the moment. Does not drop connection set up correctly. Highly recommended. You will need to download the software and I had to tweak the driver settings too to stop it going off. Once your setup this runs like a dream. It's outstanding and I came from a cable setup to this as I did research and I thought this was the best, and I have not been disappointed. It just feel as though I am on a cable setup as its so fast and stable. I am on Windows 10 Pro, so for those saying this does not run on Windows 10 it's not true and can only be that they have not set it up right. I use mine for gaming and surfing the net and find it perfect. I have had mine now a couple of years and it's never let me down. I use it on a gaming desktop and have also used it on my laptop with no issue. Do your homework and set it up right. Read the paper work and watch a Youtube video if needed and you will have no issues.

Defective drivers!
On Windows you need to manually install the driver. The driver comes with a piece of poor software that you can't uninstall (without losing the driver as well). The first connection after boot works: you connect to WiFi and the Internet. But every other connection attempt to any network will result in no Internet after that - WiFi connects but no Internet. I used this with my desktop, but imagine using it on a laptop... You go to a cafe, boot your PC and connect to the cafe's network; then you go home and try to connect to your own network. Nope, you have to reboot or else it won't work. Also, if you want to use this on Linux you need to compile the driver yourself, because it's not in the mainline kernel. It's an expensive WiFi adapter but it's worth less to me than the cheaper ones. Having excellent signal is useless if you can't connect at all.

Und siehe da: runs like a charme!

This WiFi adapter is great and works perfectly. I've tried a few other adapters before this one, but the all had issues with dropping the connection, slow speeds and having horrible latency and jitter, but this one has none of those. The only issue really is the 2008 look of the program you use to connect to a network, but it works great. So, since you really don't use it that often, it's totally fine.

Gran producto.
