I've only had it for a couple of weeks and it's pretty much paid for itself. I decided to start a little side business flipping cars. So far I've looked at 3 vehicles that "had no paint work" as the seller would say. But when the thickness gauge says 120-130 microns all over the car but the front fender which looks a little different and measures 360 microns says different. I'm very impressed and would definitely purchase again if I need a new one.

I’ve been using the GOYOJO Paint Thickness Gauge in my Detailing Work, and honestly, for the price, it’s a solid tool. Right out of the box it’s super easy to use—no complicated setup. It's good for doing Inspections or Paint Correction. The readings are consistent and accurate enough for real-world work. I’ve used it to check factory paint vs. repainted panels, and it definitely helps catch differences. If you’re doing polishing or wet sanding, it gives you a good idea of how much clear you’re working with so you don’t push it too far.

Before purchasing this item, I asked the seller to confirm whether it could measure *only* the thickness of the clear coat. The seller assured me that it could; however, in reality, it is not possible to measure the clear coat thickness alone—it measures the total thickness instead.

One of the easiest meters I’ve used. Calibrates easily. Bright screen. Very Accurate. Comes with calibration materials as well.

This tool is quite the bargain for its price point. It comes with everything you need to calibrate and store a well designed tool. The unit is easy to operate and the instructions for calibration and use are easy to follow. As you can see by the pictures the unit comes with several calibration plates, nice protective carrying case, wrist strap (color coordinated no less), USB cable, and battery. Oh yeah and an instruction pamphlet... One of the features I didn't expect but really appreciate is the ability to toggle/rotate the display by 180deg, so there is no problem taking readings in hard to reach areas and seeing the results in a fairly bright and clear display. This unit is a good find for the features and price point.

This is a great little finish checker. At the current price around ~$35 it's one of the cheaper thickness gauges I'm seeing on Amazon but doesn't have any significant drawbacks that I can tell. In fact, it's one of the more sophisticated ones I've used with the full menu system. Not to say it's complicated to use: it comes pretty much ready to go with decent defaults. I did find it helpful to crank up the screen brightness though for outdoor use, but doing so was pretty easy as the menu system is intuitive enough. It auto detects the metal type, though you can pin it to one or the other if desired. Also with the defaults it beeps when it finds paint over a certain thickness. Seemed to correspond with a known repair spot on my vehicle which it detected because the paint was thicker there 👍

Product was easy to setup! Product is made very well don’t seem to be cheaply made.. shipping was excellent will do business again with other products.. value for money
